Contextual information The epigram closes a partly metrical colophon: '+ Παθὼν τὲ μαθὼν, ἐκδιδάσκεις | τοὺς πέλας·
ὅσους ὁ βυθὸς τ(ῶν) πα|θὼ[ν] ἔξω φέρει:-| + ἀρχὴν λαβόντας τοῦ πρὸ(ς) ὕψος ἐμβλέπ(ειν):-|
+ σωθεῖ ὁ γράψας, τὴν βίβλ(ον) ταύτην. καὶ ὁ ἀναγώσας, ἁμήν :-|
+ θ(εο)ῦ τὸ δῶρον· (καὶ) Κλήμη δὲ ὁ πόνος'.
