Palaeographical information |
The cognomen μακροολέ(ον)τος (v. 2) was added in rasura by another hand, probably belonging to someone close to Nikolaos Makroleon or to his family (D’Aiuto 2022: 105). Based on what is still visible of the erased writing (τ[…]α), D’Aiuto suggests that the original word was most likely the genitive τάλα, or even the adverb τάχα (D'Aiuto 2022: 105-106). |
Contextual information |
The book epigram is accompanied by two notes written by a later hand (13th or 14th century: D'Aiuto 2022: 105). The first one precedes the epigram and is dedicated to the memory of Michael hiereus and Eudokia presbyterissa. The second one is located after the book epigram, right beneath the signature of the scribe and the doxologia: it commemorates hiereus George Merkurios. |
