The epigram is preceded by the following non-metrical introduction: 'Νικήτα τοῦ καὶ Δαυὶδ, δούλου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, τοῦ φιλοσόφου, ἑρμηνεία τῶν τετραστίχων τοῦ Ἁγίου Γρηγορίου τοῦ Θεολόγου, οἷς ἐπέγραψεν οὕτως' (cf. Picard (2022: 1823)).
