	Ἡ μουσικὴ μὲν ὀσφέως πάλαι λύρα:
	ἕλληνες ἢν ἔφησ(αν) οἱ μυθογράφοι,
	ἅπ(αν)τα τοῖς κρούμασιν ἕλκ(ειν) ἀθρόον: \|\|
	καὶ θαῦμα ταῦτην μεῖζον εἶναι θαυμάτων,
	τοιοῦτον οὐδὲν ἐτραγώδησε μέλος:
	οἵους ὁ δα(υι)δ ἐξετράνωσε λόγος,
	πᾶσ(αν) γὰρ ἐξαιροῦσιν μοῦσ(αν) ὀργάν(ων):
	σύμφωνον ἐξ ἅδουσιν ὠδὴν ἀσμ(ά)τ(ων),
	παρῆκεν ὀρφεὺς (καὶ) σεσήκεν λύρα.
	θήγει γ(ὰρ) οὔτι δένδρα (καὶ) ζῶα πλάνη,
	δα(υὶ)δ δὲ νῦν πάρεστι, καὶ λαλεῖ ξένα:
	καὶ τῆ θεοφθόγγω τε μέλπει κινύρα,
	ἠχεῖ τὰ θεῖα (καὶ) κροτεῖ παρρησία:
	ἐν γῆ μελωδῆ (καὶ) συνάγη τοῖς ἄνω,
	καὶ κύκλα π(αν)πόνηρα δαιμόν(ων) τρέπει,
	παύει δὲ τῆ σύριγγι τῆς εὐρυθμίας,
	ὡς οἶα δεκάθεκτα δεινὰ θηρία,
	ὀρμᾶς παθῶν τε (καὶ) λογισμ(ῶν) ἀστάτων,
	ἕλκει βροτούς γε, (καὶ) πρὸς ὕμν(ους) προτρέπει:
	καὶ συγχορεύ(ειν) ἀγγέλοις ἐπὶ τρέπει,
	καὶ γ(ὰρ) σοφίζει (καὶ) πλατύνει καρδί(αν):
	καὶ νοῦν καθαίρει (καὶ) μετέρει τῶν κάτω,
	καὶ ζεῖ τὸ πν(εῦμ)α (καὶ) κ(α)ταυγάζει φρέν(ας):
	καὶ χειραγωγεῖ πρὸς τρίβους σ(ωτη)ρίους.
