| Comment | Marava-Chatzinicolaou (1997: 204): 'The epigram on fol. 193 is a kind of prologue and analysis of the text, of the Ascetic Rules of Basil the Great. It is written in the first person. The book itself, that is, Basil the Great, states that its purpose is to help monks rid themselves of their wickedness and failings and to raise up the mystic cult of the worship of the blessed Trinity, τῆς προσκυνητῆς μακαρίας Τριάδος. The donor of the codex, Germanos, and its date 1143/4, are mentioned, but the helpless and humble writer remains anonymous'. |
