Contextual information | Kiilerich (2001: 171): 'the dedicatory page has a golden cabled band frame of two interlaced squares arranged to form an eight-pointed star enclosed within a circle. This design, which is found in floor mosaics and in Coptic textiles, as far as I am aware, is unparalleled in manuscript illuminations. Each of the eight star points contains a gold letter of the name IOULIANA on a faded purple red ground. Around the octogonal outline of the inner picture runs the dedication'. |

Genre(s) | Patron-related epigram |
Subject(s) | Anicia Juliana (462 - 527) |
Comment | The epigram is hardly readable on the online reproduction, so Spatharakis (1976: 147) has been kept as text source. |
