Contextual information Preceded by a ktitorial inscription in prose, which mentions augusta Eirene donating the codex to the monastery.
See Politis (1958: 276): 'Eirene Augusta Palaiologissa kann entweder Eirene von Montferrat, die Zweite Frau des Andronikos II. <...>, oder Eirene von Braunschweig, die erste Frau des Andronikos III. Palaiologos <...>, sein.' Based on the palaeographical analysis, Politis argues in favour of the latter option.
