Comment See Politis (1958: 276): 'Eirene Augusta Palaiologissa kann entweder Eirene von Montferrat, die Zweite Frau des Andronikos II. <...>, oder Eirene von Braunschweig, die erste Frau des Andronikos III. Palaiologos <...>, sein.' Based on the palaeographical analysis, Politis argues in favour of the latter option.

Talbot (2014: 272): "a large lectionary with evangelist portraits (Lavra A111) was donated to the Lavra monastery by a certain Irene, probably Irene-Yolanda of Montferrat, the estranged wife of Andronikos II".
