+ Ἔσφυζον, εἶχον ἄσχετον πάλαι πόθον
οὕς πλάστα πάντων, νοῦς βροτῶν χωρεῖ μόλις
λόγους χαράξαι σοὺς διαυγεῖ πτυκτίῳ,
ἔχειν τε τούτους φῶς, πνοήν, βίου κλέος,
ὁ σὸς Μιχαήλ, ἔσχατος μονοτρόπων.
Ἔληξα τοῦ πόθου· δὲ νῦν κατ᾽ ἀξίαν
ἔντοσθεν, ἐκτός, πανταχοῦ καλλωπίσας.
Ἀλλ᾽ ὦ βλύσας ἄβυσσον ἐκ τετραστόμου
κρήνης μαθητῶν, πᾶσαν ἄρδουσαν φρένα,
ψυχὴν ἐμὴν ἄνικμον, ἐν καιρῷ δίκης,
εἴης ποτίζων καινόν, ἄμβροτον πόμα,
ὅ σοὺς μαθητὰς εἶπας ἐκπίνειν τότε.
