Il pastore dei Niceni, principe cardinale della grande santa Roma, il pio Bessarione, cui il Ponto diede i natali e che la Terra figlia di Crono ospitava, grande vanto dei Greci e degli Ausoni, giace in una tomba, ma spazia per la terra infinita per nobiltà, saggezza, probità, facondia. Lui che, morto, molti popoli hanno giustamente pianto, vive per sempre glorioso per le azioni e l’ingegno. Perito è il suo corpo, ma la sua gloria non perirà mai, finché il cielo ruoterà portando con sé le stelle. O Greco, o Latino, fa’ sacrifici al padre che la virtù ha condotto alla dimora degli immortali. |
