Comment | In ms. Jerusalem, Patriarchike Bibliothêke, Hagiou Saba 96, this poem forms the first part of a strange diptych. This poem is a traditional scribal epigram in praise of Basil of Caesarea, whereas the following poem begins a polemic against the writing of such (scribal) poems. Note the structure of the poem, which is composed of two parts of three verses with typical Byzantine parallel structures. |
