Comment | Vassis (2005: 791), based on Miller (1886: 30), refers to John Doxopatres. The epigram, however, seems to accompany the work of Neilos Doxopatres, see, for instance, De Vos (2011: 245-246). The poem can be found in the 16th-century manuscript Biblioteca Nacional 4591 (f. 1r) (cf. Miller 1886: 29-56) and in Vat. gr. 1426 (f. 288) (cf. Rabe: 1908). According to De Vos (2011: 245, n. 1; 246-248), the epigrams in these late manuscripts are copied from a lost 13th-century manuscript from Messina. |
