Comment | The expression 'Διὸς Κόρινθον' is a curse, used for those who frequently repeat the same words. Cf. Mészáros (2013: 74, n. 26): "The “Corinthus, son of Zeus” is a well–known Greek proverb meaning something like “the same old stuff again”. According to the tradition, the city Corinth attempted to convince the rebellious Megara by referring to the hero named Corinthus, the mythical founder of Megara. The Megarians, however, refused this argument laughing." |
