Comment De Groot (2021: 109): "The first verse of this epigram is identical to the common type." (i.e. Type 1931) "After that, the author attempts to elaborate the second and third verse into three verses, by adding and changing some words of the original type. The additional words are mainly particles that add to the bulk of the text but do not substantially contribute to the meaning (...). This begs the question: why did Zacharias find it necessary to adapt the epigram? A possible explanation is that he tried to make elegiac distichs out of the dactylic hexameters. Indeed, v. 2 and 4 scan as dactylic pentameters after his adaptations."
