	Τὸν τῆς νομικῆς ἱεραρχίας τρόπον
	ἧς Ζαχαρίας ἠμφίεστο τὴν χάριν
	Λουκᾶς ὁ θεῖος ἱστόρησε παγκάλως∙
	ἔχρην γὰρ αὐτὸν ἑν λόγοις τεθραμμένον
	γραφήν τε πᾶσαν ἐξόχως ἠσκημένον
	μηδὲν παρεῖναι τῶν ἁναγκαίων ὅλως
	ἀλλ᾽ εὐφραδείᾳ καὶ πλάτει νοημάτων
	πολυτελῆ μάλιστα δεῖξαι τὸν Λόγον.
	οὐκοῦν ἀποπρεπόντως οὐδ᾽ ὁ ζώγραφος
	τὸν τῆς μονῆς πρόεδρον ἑστῶτα γράφει
	καὶ λαμβάνοντα χερσὶν ἱερωμέναις
	τὸ τῆς στολῆς γνώρισμα τῶν ἱερέων.

Translation(s)	The divine Luke has beautifully outlined the course of the lawful hierarchy of which Zacharias assumed the grace. For it was necessary that he, reared on words and excellently trained in the whole art of writing, should neglect nothing at all that was required, but with eloquence and expansive concepts should show the words at its most resplendent. Thus it is not at all unfitting that the painter depicts the head of the monastery standing and receiving in his sanctified hands the insignium of priesthood. Language English Source(s) I. Denn es war nötig, dass er, aufgezogen in Worten und in allem Schreiben außergewöhnlich geübt, gar nichts von dem Nötigen auslässt, sondern mit Redefertigkeit und durch Weite der Gedanken den Logos ganz prächtig zeigt. Daher ist es auch nicht unpassend, dass der Maler den Vorsteher des Klosters stehend zeichnet und wie er in seine geheiligten Hände nimmt das Abzeichen der Priesterkleidung.
