Contextual information | The epigram is located right below Bessarion's coat of arms. Another book epigram is written above the coat of arms. |
Metre(s) | Dodecasyllable |
Genre(s) | Patron-related epigram |
Subject(s) | Basileios Bessarion (1399-1400 - 18/11/1472) - RGK: I.41, II.61, III.77 - VGH: 59.E - PLP: II.2707 (kardinalios) |
Comment | The epigram seems to be a continuation of the one located above Bessarion's coat of arms. According to Despotakis (2021: 410), Plousiadenos added this note right after Bessarion was appointed as Latin patriarch of Constantinople (May 27th, 1463). |
