Palaeographical information Initial written in red ink.
Contextual information The title refers to this epigram and another one that follows it (inc. Ὦ μέγα βαττιάδαο σοφοῦ περίπυστον ὄνειαρ). This pair of poems follows in the manuscript a note (based on the Souda) on Callimachus' life and works (also briefly mentioning a namesake). The poems are introduced by these words: 'εὕρονται δὲ καί τινα ἐπιγράμματα εἰς τὸν πρῶτον καλλίμαχον ἀδέσποτα οὕτως ἔχοντα'.
After the two poems a series of epigrams by Callimachus are written.
Metre(s) Elegiacs
Genre(s) Author-related epigram
Comment De Andrés (1987: 36): 'et duo epigrammata in eodem poeta (Anth. Pal., V, 41, 42)'. However, his reference is wrong. The correct one is to AP VII.41.
