Contextual information The title refers to this epigram and another one that follows it (inc. Ὦ μέγα βαττιάδαο σοφοῦ περίπυστον ὄνειαρ). This pair of poems follows in the manuscript a note (based on the Souda) on Callimachus' life and works (also briefly mentioning a namesake). The poems are introduced by these words: 'εὕρονται δὲ καί τινα ἐπιγράμματα εἰς τὸν πρῶτον καλλίμαχον ἀδέσποτα οὕτως ἔχοντα'.
After the two poems a series of epigrams by Callimachus are written.
