Contextual information The epigram, conceived as a dialogue, follows the Psalms and accompanies a series of miniatures depicting important moments of David's life: David being called from his flock (ff. 189v-190r), Samuel anointing David (ff.190r-v), David meeting Saul enthroned (f. 190v) and the defeat of Goliath (f. 191r).
