Comment The author of the epigram merges a passage from the OT and another one from the NT in order to stress the importance of following the word of the Lord and abandon the previous life for the faith in Jesus Christ. Verses 3 and 4 recall Genesis 12,1 (episode of the call of Abraham): ἔξελθε ἐκ τῆς γῆς σου καὶ ἐκ τῆς συγγενείας σου καὶ ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ πατρός σου εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἄν σοι δείξω; while the last verse reminds to the reader Matthew 19,29: καὶ πᾶς ⸀ὅστις ἀφῆκεν ⸂οἰκίας ἢ⸃ ἀδελφοὺς ἢ ἀδελφὰς ἢ πατέρα ἢ μητέρα ἢ ⸂γυναῖκα ἢ⸃ τέκνα ἢ ⸀ἀγροὺς ἕνεκεν τοῦ ⸂ὀνόματός μου⸃, ⸀ἑκατονταπλασίονα λήμψεται καὶ ζωὴν αἰώνιον κληρονομήσει.
