Θησαυρὸς ὤφθης ἐνθέων διδαγμάτων,
οὐ χρυσὸν οὐκ ἄργυρον ἔνδοθεν φέρων,
οἷς ἀφρόνως χαίρουσιν οἱ κεκτημένοι,
τὰ τῆς φθορᾶς σπεύδοντες ἀκρατῶς ἔχειν,
ἀλλʹ ὡς ὑπερτίμους τε καὶ λαμπροὺς λίθους
ὧν οὐδὲν ἐστιν ἰσότιμον ἐν βίῳ
τῶν εὐκλεῶν σου καὶ θεοβρύτων λόγων
τὰ πλουτοποιὰ ῥεῖθρα τῶν νοημάτων
ὧν τῶν τρυφόντων πρακτικῶς καθʹ ἡμέραν
ψυχὰς καθαίρεις καὶ λογισμοὺς καὶ φρένας
καὶ πάντας ἕλκεις πρὸς θεωρίας βάσιν.
ὅθεν γε, Βασίλειε, πίστει σκευάσας
ὁ σὸς πενιχρὸς οἰκέτης Εὐθύμιος
λύτρωσιν εὑρεῖν πταισμάτων πολυτρόπων.
ταῖς σαῖς προσευχαῖς ἰσχύεις γὰρ ὡς θέλεις.
