Comment Dalfen (1987: 113): 'subscriptionis loco in A leguntur hi versus: (...) eosdem versus, qui etiam in cod. Palatino 23 traduntur, hic illic emendatos (ἐνδυκέως, ἐσσομένων) adfert Salmasius in adnot. ad Vulc. Gall. v. Avid. Cass. 3, 7 cum titulo Εἰς βίβλον Μάρκου δακτυλικὰ τετράμετρα βραχυκατάληκτα, his verbis praemissis: 'in librum Marci versiculos Graecos nescio cuius authoris in vetustis membranis reperi, quos heic ascribere non pigebit; nondum enim quod sciam sunt editi.' Aretham hoc carmen Anthologiae (AP XV 23) inseruisse putat P. Maas, Das Epigramm auf Marcus ΕΙΣ ΕΑΥΤΟΝ, Hermes 48, 1913, 295 sqq'.

Cavallo (2006: 67): "L' auteur de l' épigramme est vraisemblablemant Aréthas, le savant archevêque de Césarée de Cappadoce, qui vivait au IXe-Xe s., puisqu'il avait commandé la copie de ce texte à partir d'un vieil exemplaire détérioré."
