Υἱὲ Μέλητος, Ὅμηρε, σὺ γὰρ κλέος Ἑλλάδι πάσῃ
καὶ Κολοφῶνι πάτρῃ θῆκας ἐς ἀΐδιον,
καὶ τάσδ’ ἀντιθέῳ ψυχῇ γεννήσαο κούρας
δισσὰς ἐκ στηθέων γραψάμενος σελίδας·
ὑμνεῖ δ’ ἡ μὲν νόστον Ὀδυσσῆος πολύπλαγκτον,
ἡ δὲ τὸν Ἰλιακὸν Δαρδανιδῶν πόλεμον.
