Ἔοικας, ὤ τᾶν, εἰδέναι γράφειν ὕβρεις,
λυσιτελῶν δὲ μηδαμῶς διειδέναι.
Ἦ γὰρ ἂν ᾔδεις Εὐσεβίου τοὺς πόνους
καὶ τοὺς ἀγῶνας, οὓς καθ᾽ Ἑλλήνων ἔτλη
φλυαρίαν τὰ τῶνδε μακρὰν δεικνύων,
ὅπως Ἰουδαίων τε δυσσεβῆ πλάνην
ἀναιρετικοῖς ἐκθριαμβεύει λόγοις,
τῶν μαρτύρων ἀγῶνας ὡς μεγαλύνει,
τῶν αἱρετικῶν ὡς ἀναίρει τὸ στίφος,
πρὸς πᾶν ὅπως χρήσιμος εἰς Θεοῦ σέβας.
Ἔδει σε ταῦτα γινώσκοντα καὶ πλέω
μὴ λεξιτηρεῖν κατ᾽ Ἰουδαίους ἴσως,
καὶ μὴ νοοῦντα τὸν νόον τῶν λέξεων,
ὕβρεις καταχεῖν τοῦ τοσούτου τὸν λόγον.
