| Comment | According to Cantore (2012: 22) John Tzetzes may be the author of these verses. Bértola (2022: 349), however, is more careful: "The amazement and approval expressed in this verse scholion correspond better to the emotional reactions that usually underlie non-Tzetzean verse scholia. It does not seem to fall under Tzetzes' scholarly programme of controlling the accuracy of ancient texts, nor does it show any degree of self-promotion." |
