Comment The poem also occurs in the 17th-century manuscript Athos, Mone Megistes Lauras Λ 59.

Based on Eustratiades & Lauriotes (1925: 274), Vassis (2005: 910) considers this to be a 4-line poem. The last two verses (inc. Ὄντως ὁποῖα τοῖς ἀριστεῦσι φίλα), however, also occur separately and constitute a separate epigram (DBBE Type 5782).
