Contextual information Written below a twofold miniature depicting the death of Sabas, the scribe: in the upper part an angel receives the soul of the monk (depicted as a naked baby), below scales tip towards the soul, flanked by two angels, while demons are trying to tilt the scales.

Comment The first word of the second verse, ἀλλ', was left out for syntactic reasons. Instead, σῆς was added after ἄβυσσος to restore the metre.
