Contextual information | This epigram is part of a cycle dedicated to the New Testament. The title of the cycle is "Θεοδώρου τοῦ Προδρόμου τετράστιχα ἰαμβικά τε καὶ ἡρωϊκὰ πρὸς ἑκάστην τῶν δεσποτίκων ἑορτῶν" (Iambic and hexametric quatrains by Theodoros Prodromos for each of the despotic feasts). Note that the Nativity of Mary is generally not considered one of the "despotic feasts". |
