Contextual information The epigram is written at the end of John Chrysostom's Homily 11 on First Thessalonians. It is followed by the invocation 'ἱλάσθητι, υἱὲ θεοῦ', written in the shape of a cross.

Comment This dodecasyllabic verse is prosodically incorrect. Remarkably, it has been corrected by a second epigram in the margin: 'ἄπταιστος οὕτως ἐστιν ὁ στίχος, φίλε· ἐπιστολῆς ἐνθάδε τῆς πρώτης τέλος'.
