Τῶν ὑπὲρ ἡμᾶς ὁ γλυκασμὸς ἀγγέλων,
ἡ χαρὰν ἐκβλύζουσα τοῖς λυπουμένοις,
τῶν χριστιανῶν ἡ κραταιὰ προστάτις,
μῆτερ θεοῦ πάναγνε, σεμνὴ παρθένε,
ἀντιλαβοῦ μου κατὰ τόνδε τὸν βίον.
τῷ ἀρχηθήτει Συμεῶνι τῷ τ᾽ ἄλλα
καὶ βασάνων ῥῦσαι με τῶν αἰωνίων
τῶν ἐπερχομένων μοι ἀνθρώπων τὰς κακώσεις
καὶ δός ἡμῖν δύναμιν ὑπομονῆς γε.

Palaeographical information The last three verses are preceded, in the left margin, by the letters γ, β and α respectively, which indicates that the order of these verses should be inversed.
Contextual information The epigram is preceded by two other poems of Philes: inc. 'Ἡ τὰς πύλας κλείσασα τῆς ἁμαρτίας' and 'Χαίροις θεοῦ σκήνωμα καθηγνισμένον'.
