Palaeographical information Title in Auszeichnungsmajuskel. The initials of each line are enlarged and the lay-out suggests that the scribe was aware of the metrical nature of the text.
Contextual information The poem precedes Sophronius' SS. Cyri et Johannis Miracula and is preceded by another epigram, inc. 'Τίς τάδ' ἔγραψεν; 'Σωφρόνιος.' Πόθεν; 'ἐκ Φοινίκης.''.

Comment Lauxtermann (2003: 199) gives ony the title in translation: 'by Seneca the Iatrosophist'. Cameron (1983: 285) gives an erroneous reading of the title: 'Σενέκα ἰατροσοφιστοῦ'.

Cameron (1983: 284) refers to this occurrence, relying on the text of AP I.90.
In the AP Sophronios, Patriarch of Jerusalem, is mentioned as poet.
