Contextual information |
A decorative band separates this verse - which itself is the beginning of a prose colophon - from the two epigrams above. Whether this formula was effectively recognised by the scribe as poetry is therefore questionable; The phrase "τοῦ ἱεροῦ εὐα(γγελίου), | διὰ χειρὸς" (v. 2) counts 12 syllables, but with accent in the last syllable, and the phrase "ἐμοῦ δη|μητρίου άναγνώ|στου τοῦ Βριζωπούλου," (v. 3) is not metrical. |
