Palaeographical information The title and the first three letters of the epigram are in red ink.
Contextual information After the verses follows immediately, in red ink, 'βησσαρί(ων) καρδινάλις'.

The epigram is followed by a Latin translation, entitled 'Versus exametrici':
'Antoni librum hunc divi tibi donat Homeri
Bessarion, sacris qui iam te sustulit undis
Ut te hominu mores et graecae lumina linguae
Movortisque artes regumque facta ducumque
Et spumantis equi doceat moderarier iram;
Quo stirps esse tuo celebreris digna parente'.

2 The same hand that wrote the Latin translation added supra lineam β, α and γ, above σε πνεύματι, γείνατο and δέλτον respectively.
